How are they treated?

Genital warts can sometimes disappear on their own without any treatment. However, there is no way to tell which ones might disappear and which ones might actually grow larger. So, if you notice any changes in your genital area, it's probably better to see your doctor than to wait.
Depending on the size and location of the genital warts, there are several treatment options to choose from:
Creams
Removal by burning, freezing, or laser
Surgery
It's also important to know that even after treatment, there is always the chance that the genital warts could return because human papillomavirus (HPV) may still be present. In fact, 25% of cases come back within 3 months. If that happens, the treatment may need to be repeated. If you think you might have genital warts, visit your doctor.
