Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a virus that may have different consequences such as cervical cancer, genital warts, and abnormal Pap tests. It's a virus we should all be concerned about.
Cervical cancer is caused by certain types of a common virus called human papillomavirus (HPV). For most women, HPV clears on its own. But for some, cervical cancer can develop. It can be devastating to you or the people you care about.

That's why Pap tests are so important. A Pap test looks for abnormal cells in the lining of the cervix before they have a chance to become precancers or cervical cancer.
While some HPV infections may lead to cervical cancer, other types of HPV can have different consequences, such as genital warts.
